Renault has updated the Duster with new features and has priced the base version at Rs ₹8.30 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). This is the latest update to the SUV that was launched in an all-wheel-drive avatar last year. Previously it has been operating with only a two-wheel-drive option.

The changes to the exterior are minimal which include smoked headlamps, body coloured door handles and rear view mirrors. Most of the changes are inside the cabin, which include an armrest, new gear shift indicator and a new multi information display with service reminders. The Duster comes with a segment first ECO mode feature, cruise control and speed limiter. The steering column is new, apart from the new instrument cluster and a speed sensitive door lock for better safety. The interior has also been refreshed and the Duster looks slightly more up- market with the new upholstery. The company has also worked on the NVH levels and reduced the cabin noise.

The regular features on the standard model have been carried over. This feature list includes a rear A/C unit with independent controls for rear seat passengers, the stereo system that is neatly integrated into the centre console, power windows, power steering, electrically adjustable ORVMs etc. On the safety front, all the regular suspects like ABS, ESP, ASR etc. continue to be offered.

There are no changes to the powertrain and the updated Renault Duster is powered by the same set of engines. This means the diesel variant is powered by the renowned 1.5-litre K9K diesel mill that produces 85bhp of power. The other turbocharged version produces 110bhp of power and 250Nm torque. The petrol powerplant is the 1.6-litre four-cylinder unit that churns out 103bhp of power and 145Nm of torque. Renault claims that they have bettered the fuel efficiency of the new car, the highest figures being 19.87kmpl.

The Duster SUV has tasted quite a bit of success ever since its launch in the Indian market and is now available with new features that up the luxury quotient and premium feel. French automaker Renault brought the Duster to India when Renault was not really a well-known brand. With the introduction of this SUV then, they changed the company's fortunes. Let us hope the refreshed Duster also finds a good demand in our country.
